hi folks,
with the excitement of jae building i am starting to get stuff sorted for the event next year.O:)
amongst the items required is a large gazebo/marqeueue..
looking on ebay i think we can expect to pay around ?100 for a 3Mx6M one.
i reckon this should be big enough to hold the beer at least.:drink: .anyone think we need a bigger on?..it doesnt sound big but if you pace it out its pretty good..above 3x6 and the prices shoot up..!
what i intend to do is ask for help buying one for club/member use.
i thought if i start a 'blue peter goal' type donation thing we could buy a gazebo and then if anyone wants to borrow it for family functions, weddings, barmitzfers (im not jewish plus i am ignorant so excuse the spelling) then they can..obviously you'd have to donate to get the future benefits..
what are peoples thoughts on this..?
i have about ?30 in the TB kitty at the moment so we've already got a good start..
dont donate yet, if the ideas a goodun i will create a buytheclubagazebo donation page..
im really sorry for continually asking for cash for the club but i want to do things properly and dont think we could survive a weekend in the british summer without one..of course maybe one of you may already have one that we can borrow/buy..in which case ive just wasted my time writing all this..

sounds good to me Nik and brings us in line with other clubs, which erm...isnt what TB is about, conforming that is ! Think we need a full on rave tent or something really or perhaps we should have a wigwam so we stand out ! Joking aside its a great idea and Im in (is there anyway of slowing that damned counter down, what plonker suggested having that on here ?) !

or how about that huge penis shaped inflatable from pheonix nites (ok am gonna concentrate on this PR meeting now I promise and stop day dreaming!) !

welly_59
30-11-2005, 14:14
a 6ft x 2ft banner with full colout tb logo and then text could be got for about £30.

will have a look at flags for you now, surely someone here could make a flag pole though?

Nick, We bought a 9x3m gazebo for Glasto last year for £50 from Makro, has 3 walls (back and 2 sides) too. Alas we graffiti-d it up so no good for this but Makro is the place to get em from.

I can borrow my mate's telescopic carbon fibre flagpole however, it's ace.

Perhaps as a 'gimmick' we can get Paul to do a complete live 1.5 build over the weekend, under the gazebo? Nick one of the mk1 club's pristine examples and stuck a dirty 3S into it

That price is for one banner with a digitally printed logo(full colour) and one colour cut-vinyl text, would be pretty much like the TB banner on top of the forums, except the writing would be in a standard font. Background on this would be white.

If a fully digital printed banner was required then it would cost around ?40 but that would allow you to have the text as it appears on the forum banner and any combination of background colour/shading etc.

Both banner would be made of 610gram vinyl and be complete with stitched border and eyelets

crackin idea nik,im in for donations...no need for a flagpole, sams inflatable penis will do.

MMmm, a live weekend swap! :D too funny...although how about someone trailers their freshly installed swap to JAE and i do a live "wire up"? already plumbed and everything else done but just needing its wiring doing which after all is the number one stumbling block people have.

Im up for that! i have a gas soldering iron so no need for leccy, would be awesome to see one fire up live in the middle of our pitch, how cool would that be? it would need to be a swap thats just starting or probably hasnt started yet! the benefit for the owner of said swap is knowing they dont have to do anything with the wiring and it'd be for free! grand idea!

I too have a makro card if you need a gazebo volunteer.

There is a severe danger that everyone is going to leave JAE2006 with a bangin hangover,no recollection of the night before and a TB logo tatooed on your arm,or bollox depending how drunk you get.....or how brave podge gets! :D

Are you sure that countdown timer is working right? im never gonna be ready.

lodgeman
30-11-2005, 18:08
if you want a v6 to wire up i could do that:-) get everthing else ready body suspension etc and drive it back?

Paul Woods
30-11-2005, 18:11
if you reckon everything else will be done by then alan then yes im up for that! mind you the v6 wiring is easier than 3s-gte,still take a few hours but id love to do that if you're game? maybe someone else could bring a turbo ready for wiring so the pair could be done over the weekend? one of each?

I'd love to donate my car for the 3s wire up but can't see the rest of the swap being done by then. In fact if I can atually manage to start it (gotta find the bits first) knowing my luck I'll probly be smack in the middle of it during JAE and have to bring the bike up instead (hopefully have a nice and sedate fireblade by then).

Will us people with crappy na cars still be allowed near the TB stand or are you gonna make us all reside with the OC.

welly_59
01-12-2005, 12:43
is it a tenner entry and how do they know that you are with a club when you arrive?

Paff
01-12-2005, 12:50
I can't remember the entrance fee but when you get there its down to you to find the club stand you need. There is a club entrance but we got there after it had shut last year and just went in the main entrance. Luckily enough as we turned up a load of mk2's turned up so we followed them. Made things a lot easier

djdna2000
01-12-2005, 13:36
They do give you a plan of the site though.

Paff
01-12-2005, 13:37
That is true, but it was dark when I arrived and while trying to avoid not running random drunk people over it can be interesting to try and read the plan as well as get to the location.

Nik, are you sure that wouldn't be you trying to summon Vigo the Carpathian?

So how much is it for club space, entry and camping then? I presume that you're allowed to camp in/around the club area... or do they make you walk on your tod all the way across a field somewhere?

nik

well maybe..:-\"

i am still waiting for confirmation from the organisers, one of whom has been away so things have been creeping along..i have sent another email today for more information..so hang tight and when i have any news to give i will post in this thread..i hope we are allowed to camp in the club area as i dont fancy leaving cars/gazebos/flags/banners etc overnight without security..last year i heard a couple of banners were nicked over night..so there are plenty of tw@ts around..

this year we (mk1 club) managed to get a pitch big enough that the cars and tents were right beside each other, ideally thats what we need.

the mk2 faithfull would set fire to our gazebo..

So we dig a moat and then build a drawbridge over it complete with a built in loonydetector. That'll keep the garden centre club members out  oh and as my other half works for Stella Artois, so we can fill the moat with that, god knows you can't drink the stuff...:puke:
