Alright folks... thought it best to say hi after lurking for a while.

<cue alcoholics anonymous style sitting round in a circle>

Hi, I'm John, 26, a Scorpio, an IT server bod at the uni of newcastle.....

...

and I'm a petrolhead.... Have got 4 cars at the moment, and the most sensible one of them is a Supra TT.

I'm on IMOC and sometimes the US MR2OC and am building a white, 1988 T-bar 1.5. Luckily (or is that unlucky for my bank balance?) I live only a mile and a half from the legendary 'Plough, where I got the inspiration for the 3SGTE conversion from Paul.... I was going to get the MR2 on the road to use as a 2nd car to half the miles going on the Supe... and then chuck in a 4AGZE for a bit extra poke... Mr Woods convinced my otherwise!

Currently my dad has pretty much repaired everything that needed repairing on the MR2... though it really needs a full respray, the rear bilstein suspension from a rev3 turbo has been fitted, along with a modded fuel pump, new brake lines etc... next job is to get the engine in and weld the mounts in place.... something Paul has offered to help us with. Thanks again matey!

Well, I did bid on a Supra CT26a on the ole ebay... but I'm currently outbid at 80-odd quid and don't feel like spending any more on an old turbo.

However....

My old man and I have been to look at a GT4 for him - to replace his existing GT4; and it has all kinds of go-faster bits on it... a Garret turbo, and apparently motec ecu, water injection, fmic, custome fasteners and pipework... high spec TRD engine... the works... and its a minter of a car.

So it may mean that the rev1 motor I've got will come out and this tuned GT4 one goes in (its currently not running due to 2 cylinders being down)... but even if the whole engine doesnt go in I've offered to go halves with my dad if i can have the goodies off it - turbo, manifold, ecu, water inj etc.. as there is a standard 3SGTE to come with the car for free! Its mint this car, so it would make a really nice standard 185 with the normal replacement engine.

Hey Paul, have you seen this car in person?

Not guilty your honour! i was just cleaning my spanners when one accidentally went off in my hand and installed a 3s-gte......thats my defence and im sticking to it!

Mega i havent actually seen the celica but it sounds like theres a lot of stuff with it for the money, theres a TRD engine there as well isnt there? I know your dad keeps going on about it,i can see the twinkle in his eye! he wants it badly! My god man if you bolt all of those TRD bits into your mk1 it will be lethal....you chaps really dont want to go over 300bhp in a mk1,things start getting all funny at the rear end....traction wise i mean, not your underpants!

I know adam scored big time with his clip, lucky sod got vernier pulleys, toda cams, aftermarket LSD,god knows what else!

Mega,Tuesday is install day so im told so i will be over first thing to help get the engine positioned.....as a thought we could mount your engine and then drop it a few inches and make a jig up like carl crawford did....we could then lend this out to twobrutal members for instant engine placement.I prefer doing things by eye but if it helps less sure builders install the engine ? what do you think? seems like a good chance to make one.
