Well its time to maybe start thinking about getting a stand together for JAE2006....its too short notice for this years event and with so many 1.5's still being built it gives everyone a chance to get sorted. Also nik will be making the journey back from india for this event too.

I will be co-ordinating something with nik and james (no idea what yet!) to sort out the paperwork and funds but any help or ideas any of you chaps have or can offer by next year would be fab....im thinking a gazebo or something,BBQ's....beer of course!! we could have swap boards or something profiling each cars build for the public to read etc....

If anyone has an idea for a meet or for JAE2006 then this is the place to discuss it...

I will have a go at building the official twobrutal BBQ made out of an old mk1 boot for next year....should be good for a laugh!

I see you were up late this morning Paul!! First Saturday in the month eh!
If folks are going to JAE this year, even if its in our 1.2 Corsas we could meet to put names to faces and share a beer. Planning a stand for 2006 will concentrate my mind too. Are you thinking of a seperate stand or as part of the Mk1 Club stand?

mornin JB,the early moderator catches the dodgy posters or something like that!

Yeah good idea mate, faces to names at this years JAE is a good idea.....and anything you can contribute or think of before JAE2006 would be fantastic, its definately going to be our own separate club stand though,we have a single identity that quite a few anorak members in the mk1 clubs frown upon......we dare to desecrate their beloved cars type attitude.....no twobrutal will have its own stand with not a stock mk1 in sight.

Long time no talk Mr Woods. Thought I should join in and get my orders for the 2006 show. Need time to prepare!! How is the V6 conversion going? I'm a bit out of touch because I'm pc iliterate and I need a scribe to do my typing!! Are you going to this year's show? If so, being the finger on the pulse chap I am - do you know when it is?! Catch up with you soon. Jimbo F - elder of the Punjabi Farmer

hello sir! long time indeed! good to see you on the forum... i trust you are "gently" looking after that 1.5 for nik? :D

Im definately going to JAE but wether or not the V6 is actually finished is another matter....ive so much to do and i keep moving the goalposts with new mods, its going to be tight, fingers crossed it will be done for JAE.

I believe this years JAE is 23rd,24th july...i will be travelling down on friday night 22nd as usual to set up camp.

We will have to discuss plans for JAE2006,niks coming home for that i believe and all of the current 1.5's being built should be complete so it will make a great first club stand.....you already know JB,you met him at last years event...old codger :D with the aeroplane air conditioning unit thingy??? JB you remember james?

Great to hear from you again james,we will have a pint and a natter at this years event with some new faces thrown in.

Paul Woods
15-06-2005, 06:51
well i will be on the mk1 club stand this year for the last time with my wifes mk1....so you are more than welcome to stick on there with us,they give trophies for best car/best modified.

Or theres the imoc stand?

Cant wait until next year when we have our very own stand as the others dont cater for our identity. :(

thought id post up a pic i forgot i had of JAE2004 with the first historic coming together of the Uk's only two mk1.5's (at the time)...mine on the left, niks on the right.

Now if this pic doesnt give you inspiration for JAE2006 nothing will! :D

thanks to dan putting me in touch with the JAE organisers ive submitted a request form for next years event so that we have our own stand.

Ive provisionally asked for a pitch big enough for 15 cars, but i think we will be doing well to get up to 10 for next year, one things for sure,it'll be a cracking stand.

Costs appear to be ?1 per car so even if we reserve a pitch big enough for 15 cars plus camping space so we have 12 months to raise the massive sum of ?15!! might have to do a charity run or shave me head or something to raise that!

So there you go folks, the wheels are in motion for JAE2006,that should give you all a chance to get YOUR wheels in motion! :D

The question is, do we have a seperate circle off for those wheezing, asthmatic V6's from the rest of us with proper Turbocharged beasts?

Seriously though.. the way it's going with the amount of new victi... er.. 'converts', we should have a really good showing from both sides of the 1.5 camp, in time for this next year. I'm really looking forward to it, it should be quite unique having a whole stand of 2l turbo and 3l V6 mk1's 8-)

Paul Woods
20-10-2005, 06:49
yeah it should be quite something mate, who wants to wander round acres of stock mk1's all looking the same....knowing JAE ours will be one of the most popular stands there....personally i cant wait.

Oh we best put the V6's on the outside edge, just in case we suck a 1.5 in thru the air filter when revving for the crowd :D

lodgeman
20-10-2005, 10:09
you do realise that there isnt a finished v6 yet? there could be(god forbid) a stand full of turbo's#-o

nik
20-10-2005, 11:24
well technically there shouldnt be any v6s cos theyre not strictly mk1.5s..but seeing as though im a nice guy i'll find a spot for them..if any are finished by then of course..

adamh
20-10-2005, 18:33
they'l be drawing their pensions by the time they are finished.. :-#

Paul Woods

I only hope I have enough money and time to start and finish my planned project by then or its back on the OC stand with the other plain mr2's. Although to be honest there wern't many mk1's there cos they were all with the mk1 club instead.

Hey people, was just wondering - i've not ventured to the likes of JAE before and was wondering about costs, entry etc etc

Do you just turn up, or do you have to book in advance?

174 days to go... I'd better find a rear clip soon!!

nik

expecting some news on jae06 shortly from the organisers..

Paul Woods
26-01-2006, 17:38
you just turn up,pay at the gate, last year i paid £15 to be able to camp friday night/saturday night. One point to be made is you usually have to say which club you are with,i know some had a problem in previous years getting onto the site on friday if they werent with a specific club.If someone comes up with a twobrutal club flyer we can print those off and stick them under our windscreens at entry...that should be enough.

welly_59
26-01-2006, 17:45
i'll get a flyer made up once we've got details of pitch etc

latest email from the organisers:

Japanese Auto Extravaganza (JAE) 2006 is confirmed!

Last year we had over 3500 club cars and 2006 promises to be even bigger with more clubs registered already.

For 2006 JAE will be staying at the new, bigger venue, The East of England Showground. But for 2006 we now have even more to do with more activities for clubs, more activities for enthusiasts and better facilities.

JAE 2006 will take place from Friday 21 July 2006 to Sunday 23 July 2006

Last year we proved the new, secured venue is large enough to hold ALL car clubs/traders and have a designated camping areas. We know we did not get everything right and so have made some changes for this years event. Now there will be separate, smaller trade areas, dedicated autojumble, even more camping space, a fun fair, fireworks, film show, disco and a heck of a lot more! But we will still have the relaxed, friendly atmosphere, chilling out by barbecues and generally having a fun time messing about with all things Japanese and wheeled!

It's official! JAE is the largest Japanese Car Show anywhere in the world!

Detailed information about this year's event will go out in February. But, if you want some more information use the dedicated JAE forum at www.japcarclub.com/jae this website will also be updated regularly to keep you abreast of information and developments for 2006.

Paul Woods

sounds superb nik,i hope some of the old billing atmosphere returns to this new venue,it was a bit "bland" last year....TB will make all the difference i think!

Paff
31-01-2006, 23:52
I agree, although they had a bigger venue it wasn't planned as well as Billing, lets hope they can sort that out this time.

I'm gonna try and make it there on the Friday (1/2 day off work and cruise up). Anyone else from SW up for the same (someone else will have to lead I'm useless at finding my way anywhere).

tow the 1.5 along - I'm sure Woodsy will need something to do during the day.....

JAE 2006 will be at the same venue as last year, East of England Showground.

Looks like it could be a belter - They're having a service area which looks like it'll include 4 wheel alignment :) (strikes one job of the big list).

Peebs
14-05-2006, 22:11
Hmm, I wonder if they will have a dyno setup too...
