Hi guys. I`ve just recently joined the MR2 forum and this place cropped up in a few posts i looked over. Thought i`d come and have a look. Bloody wish i hadn`t now, i`m hooked.
I`m presently bidding on a Mk1 on Ebay which i`m planning to use as a track car. I live just down the road from Cadwell and i think one of these would be spot on. I`ve just got rid of my Toyota Supra Twin Turbo so need a toy. I was planning on just lightening and caging the MR2 and tracking it, but by god you guys have got me wanting to swap the engine now. My missus is going to go nuts. Cheers boys!

Should have kept the Supra mate. I've got both, best of both worlds...
Couple of folks on here building mk1.5's are track day tools, judging by the performance of the few mk1.5's that take to the track in the US, they should be:

a) a lot of fun!
b) extremely competetive!

Oh, and hello :)

My Supra was 400 bhp with the BillyBoyRacer 19" wheels and although i loved it to bits it nearly bankrupt me! I see you have a Mk1 Eccy. I also have a Mk1 Mexico awaitng restoration and the father-in-law has a Mexico,1300 GT and a bubble arched Lotus Twin Cam very similar looking to yours. Good job i don`t have much money as i`d have one of everything.
Anyway thanks for the welcome and i look forward to have some good MR2 chats with you all! Ta.

'One of everything' I like that motto  ... I think I shall use it from now on.

I'd have a mk2 Escort as well if I could get away with it

If you do go with the 1.5 then you're in for a treat.. my mk1.5 running at 12-13psi is pretty much equal to the Supra (stock TT), and the handling is go-kart like. I can only hope for even better things once I get the fuel cut sorted and my unichip fitted and mapped! :D

We`ve got a Mk2 1600 Sport here as well and a Mk2 1300GL .:righton: Far too greedy!
I live cars and i honestly can say that i`d never heard of a Mk1.5. Its new to me. You guys need more coverage. Our Daihatsu GTti club was basically unknown until we were made aware to Retro Cars and they did a feature. You guys should do the same as i can`t soak up enough info on these things. I think i`ve now found the ultimate tool in these things. I want one now!

True, true. Does anyone else find that they need to get their daily fix of TB and that if for some reason they can't get on line they're missing out?

Welcome. The clock's ticking....

Welcome. The clock's ticking....

I tell you what; when the electrics were all being re-done end of last year and I only had a crummy old Pentium 233 laptop to use for 2-3 months along with no hifi, no video games, no dvd, no mp3's, it was bleedin' murder!

Look at how my posting score has suffered as a result!

welcome to TB scarface! Yes im afraid once you get the 1.5 bug its a medical condition for which there is no known cure....all you can do is scratch the itch.

You should pop up to county durham sometime and visit the garage and johns 1.5 is 2 miles away from me...see a v6 and mk1 turbo in the flesh, get ideas and inspiration etc

Im building a 1.5 for member "ohms" this month so you could drop in and see how its done if you like....plus im building an engine jig to pass around TB members to make the job easier.

Anyway glad you found us! all the help you need is right here, the secret is read, read and then read it all again, check out my swap article in the download section, its got pretty much all you need to know in there.
