Hi folks, i am starting a production run for the passenger side (the one feeding cold air to the intake area) Mk1 Toms replica air scoop. These are much sought after but rarely available and i only have the passenger side (the drivers side ones are pretty much cosmetic anyway.)
I don't have pictures of the product until Monday but it will be the usual high standard moldings we normally produce. The price will be around £85 plus delivery, they cost a lot to have molded due to the complex nature of the shape, two molds are needed per scoop.
This is the scoop on a US car...

I will have full pics on Monday, postage should be about a tenner, there is a 1 week lead time on production, cheers.

Paul,
I might be in the market for a Mk2 one - maybe even a pair (ooer missus!)
Chris.

Sorry squire it's a mk1 product only, because of their rarity, the mk2 version is already widely available.
I do have some rather nice mk2 fibreglass vented front wings going on sale Monday though, a new design.

Just for reference folks, i paid over £100 for a used one of these, and it wouldnt be half the quality that Pauls versions will be. This is a *very* good offer...

You're not wrong there Tommy, i went looking for one many years ago and they were so rare it took a month to find one and it cost a small fortune, i kinda like producing stuff that is no longer available or hard to get.
Tiggs do you want yours painting black mate? Can do that for £20.

Yep mate black would be great mate, you must have read my mind but I didn't want to impose on your time.
I can also bozz up when it's ready and collect it from you, gives me an excuse to go for a spin out lol.
Paul,
If you want a drivers side to make a mould from, I have one here that won't be going on a car for a while. Just send me one back once made?

That is very kind of you Stuart, my molder takes an absolute age to make the molds for this stuff as he does my work as a sideline to his everyday big corporation clients, i ordered this one over a year ago, so it takes a long time for my products to reach market. The only thing i will say is they are of the highest quality once they do come.
I couldn't possibly take your scoop mate, it would be an unknown length of time he would have it, not fair on you, but many thanks all the same.

Paul, can you make this is carbon fiber?
Paul Woods
04-02-2012, 08:51
Sorry mate FG only I'm afraid, plus it's two separate molds that are bonded together, the carbon weave would look poor with a join line running through it.
You could always have one wet transfer dipped? That looks as good as CF

Sadly everything else I have is genuine CF, anything else seems a compromise :)

The price is £85 per scoop collected or £95 delivered. I can also paint them at extra cost, drop me a PM about that, thanks Paul.

Groan as I was typing that last night I got a flash of the x files and wondered who would be first to say it.
Paul,
I have a passenger side scoop from someone on ebay. I'm not particularly impressed as its a bit lumpy.
Is your one taken from a genuine TOMS scoop? Hows the moulding? nice and smooth?
I will need to use one in my set up, and I've just removed the splitter from my car for similar reasons, so I'll be in the market for a scoop and probably the eurosport bumper in the not too distant future. Will you be going to JapFest at Castle Combe this year? I know it's a bit of a trek from Durham, but I'd like to see these in person.
Cheers,
coanda

I was thinking about going to japfest only it's quite close to other shows as well.

I don't think i will be at Japfest, i need to devote as much time as i can to getting the V8 finished this year.
The scoop is a direct Toms replica, it's pretty smooth, i've seen the Ebay one at another thing i've seen is there is no return lip on the vent itself, so it looks kind of skinny. FG can be a little wobbly here and there but my products are normally pretty good, both the Euro bumper and scoop look pretty flat.
special..i had a go at these but it melted my brain working out how to mould such a complex shape..
i'll have one please..could you get a shot from the front on the car please squire?

I can say all Paul's stuff is good stuff, like Paul says though it may need a bit of fettling to fit as with all aftermarket stuff there's a margin of error so you can either DIY or get a professional to fit these lol.

Woot woot got my toms scoop and to say I'm thrilled is an understatement, the quality is frigging impressive compared to the other flimsy shite I've seen over the past 6 years of looking for one, this things a Ferrari compared to that other shite ,a proper quality dogs bollocks as always mr woods off to find a drill and mount this sucker then take loads of pics.
Later run some ducting bit of grill work mmmm.

Well have had ago at fitting the snorkel it's a bit tight but it maybe that it's a mk1a thing as it still needs a bit of fettling I think, Paul has been a fantastic help as I'm quite ham fisted at times and worry too much about braking things .
Any who here's a few pics.

Cheers Patrick going to have another go with the dremel to get the gaps right but that's me just being fussy I think, let's hope the trunking I'm going to fit directs more cold air towards the filter.
Maybe fit some extractor fans into the lid next?
looking lush that..got one on my christmas list!

I've more coming folks, i pick them up tomorrow morning, and i'm going to ask the molder if they can be adjusted a little for a less snugger fit as they are a bit tight around the roof section.
snowtigger
01-03-2012, 18:41
I don't mind a bit of a sloppy fit as you can always add more material it's just hard to take it away.
I don't think it needs much Paul I think it just could do with being less wider on the base and over the pillar, I think the moulding is just a tad too big.
it looks cool though don't you think.

Well tonight I won a viper carbon fibre cold air induction kit to fit to the snorkel, its a lovely bit of kit will report back once it's fitted and what improvement it has if any.
Looks much nicer than the one I have. Still a long way away from worrying about this though!
