Hello there.
Some of you may find my name vaguely familiar, I also post on the mr2oc forum under the same name.
I have been well and truely into my Toyota's for some time now, I own a ST185 Celica gt4 that is my sort-of racecar, I also have a GA70 Supra and a 1JZ-GTE and R154 box that I was going to put into it (but am now selling because I have too many cars for a 21y/o uni student), I have an EL43 Corsa (that's a toyota too) as a daily driver, my girlfriend has a TA22 Celica, and most importantly, I have an 89 SC AW11.
I am 2/3rds through the 4agze-4agte swap, progress halted because I need a new exhaust manifold made and couldn't afford one, but there is a very good chance I am going to be buying an sw20 turbo this week and dropping it's guts into my aw11. I have for a long time wanted to build a mk1.5 (or sw11 as I prefer to call them), and I think I may finally get to do it. It can then wear my "3SGTE" personalised plate until the GT4 is ready for it :)

Here are some pictures of my cars, so you can all familiarise yourself with my world :)

first the important one, my aw11, partially dismantled:

there's the gt4 in the garage and the supra under the cover

you can see a little of the ta22 there

the gt4, in the background is an old MA70 7MGTE supra I had for a while:
(that's my old house, so you don't get confused)

and again, that's my dad's house, so you don't get confused again. That's my dad's 2001 camry in the background (my mum has a 93 st183 celica):

the engine. since this I have decided to move the alternator down where the aircon normally sits, flip the turbo around so the compressor side is at the cambelt end, and get a custom manifold made, rather than using the manifold adapter. That's a blitz/kkk k3t turbo, supposed to be good for 450hp+

the personalised plate for my celica that I got for my 21st. This is actually a copy, rather than the real one though

my girlfriend's TA22 celica. this is going to recieve a gen 2 3sge block + head, with st185 sensors, loom and ecu, an st165 turbo, mk3 7MGTE intercooler and more, but not until the mr2 is done and the gt4 is going again. In the background you can see the Corsa and my girlfriend's company car (Nissan Pulsar wagon)

here's some shots of the GA70, from my old house:
on the left is the Corsa, and behind it is the white MA70

and finally my first aw11 (i've only had 3). This car was so damn fun. See those clear lights? I made them :D

I'm sure you don't really care about all my cars, but I do :)

yes we have spent the last couple of years acquiring Toyotas, the TA22 was a very lucky find, they are reasonably rare and always overpriced, but we found that one for $1300NZ (which is about 2ukp), it's been recently painted and had rust repairs done, mint interior, rebuilt 2T-B engine and gearbox...yum yum.
BTW, there's going to be a red sw20 in that line up shortly :D

hey malcolm..welcome.
great post..a true 'yota family you have there..
and as for calling them SW11..i like that a lot..mk1.5 always hints at a 1.5ltr engine inside..or maybe SW11T ..sweet..! 8)
so what are the details of the sw20 you may buy..?
thats a nice setup you have on the gt4 how the hell do you run that as a student..? i had a poxy 125cc bike and had trouble running that when i was at college..spent all my money on other things..well, beer..!
'faster than jesus' lol..mind if i change the twobrutal banner to read that instead of 'all torque'..? too funny..!
im planning on holidaying in NZ in 96..great to meet up..you North or South.? do you know Derek..?
anyway..

Blimey mate... I think you're as obsessed with 'collecting' cars as my dad and I are together :D

Nice collection. Welcome aboard.... we're frightfully charming on this blighty based forum, not like those uncultured yanks!

thank you all, I feel so welcome :D
nikf - the reason I like to call them sw11's is that's what they would be known as if Toyota had made them, so it seems right to me. :) here are a couple of pics of the sw20, and I am buying for sure now :D

it's got low km's (114,000), engine goes really nicely, and the only modification is that crappy NZ made blow off valve.
As for the gt4, I've had it for about 4.5 years, and for most of that time I've been working full time, and somehow managed to get good at my job and earn pretty good $$ doing it. Also since I do about 95% of work myself I save heaps of money too.
feel free to change the banner to "faster than jesus". It's a saying me and my mates use often as a joke, and i think it works quite nicely :)
I'm in the North, Auckland is almost certainly where you would arrive if you fly over here. And no, I don't think I know derek (to be fair mate, we do have a population of over 4 million)

adamh - never seen or even heard of "brain-dead", maybe it's before my time? ;) And yes, NZ is full of Toyotas, for many years Toyotas have been the highest selling car here, and due to laws allowing Japanese cars to be imported very cheaply it makes them very affordable once they get over about 12 years old

Megatron - Yes, I think I'm obsessed too. When I started uni my goal was to sell up so we would only have my gt4, mr2, and girlfriend's celica. So far all we have done is bought an sw20...hmmm

podge - cheers :D

well, yep, that movie was circa 1988 etc, so prolly a little young then too have watched. the leading actors name would you believe it was 'derek'!.. so ya, i know him.. he ran around the hilly groves of nz shooting big head aliens with machine gun and generally saved the world,..noble

would be hard not to feel welcomed in this presently tiny community of twobrutal! populous 13
more attention the most avid girlfriend can be had here

adam - i was thinking of Bad Taste(1989), Peter Jacksons first film. Derek was played by Jackson, he also played the bearded alien. I reckon we're thinking of the same film. Ace low budget home made film, shot of course in NZ.
Dereks dont run..!
Theres an ace mk1 capri on that film..though its purple and does get blown up by a RPG..as does a sheep..! I'll shut up now..

ha! Bad Taste is classic! Admittedly I haven't seen the whole thing, but what I have seen was classic :)
I'm about to go and make the first step on the mk1.5 project - installing my MA70 fuel pump. I think I will try to document what I do, as some of the other guys have done, somehow it seems like it will be fun :)
man I really can't wait to get stuck into this swap

stole some 6mm steel plate from my welding class at uni today for engine mounts! Bloody heavy suckers to have to carry in a backpack for a 20km bike ride though! sore back! (that's right I own 5 cars yet my daily transport is a bicycle!)
