Well, just wanted to drop a note and say hello to all of you. New to the board.

Im currently finishing up my swap of an '01 JDM 190hp 2ZZ 1.8 ltr VVT-Li in my '86. Car runs, just finishing up the wiring bugs. Currently in the midst of getting the tach to work, connecting the oil sending unit and temp sensor to the guages. Will be fabbing up the exhaust when the custom SS header arrives.

I searched but have not found... Any 2ZZ's been done over here? Its the first in the States.

a warm welcome indeed blown, ive never heard of anyone putting the 2zz into a mk1,its bound to be a stonking conversion....theres definately none here in the UK,or even europe for that matter.

I always wanted to have a go at this swap with the 6 speed mr-s trans attached, hats off to you for doing it though, that should be a really quick mk1.What trans have you used? stock mk1?

Was the wiring difficult? are they OBD2? please lets have some pics here to drool over!!!

Very well done though,i reckon this is a worlds first

I removed the C-50 trans for the C-160 6spd. The high rev hp and 6spd should make for a real blast to :driving:

And yeah, the wiring was a real PITA. Alot of it was pretty strait forward, but I had some trouble with the relay circuits as the design was different. I used the 2's fuse block as well as the one from the 2ZZ harness. I removed the unecessary fuses from the added block and changed one of the relays to the circuit open.

The fuel system was made returnless with an in-tank regulator to the modded fuel pump. Completely different EVAP system.

Now that I have determined which tach adapter I need, its time to order it. The oil pressure and coolant temp sending units are going to be removed from the 4AGE and installed in new locations on the 2ZZ. I owe the credit for these ideas and the powering up of the regulator for the alt to a friend of mine. (thanks Christian)

The car hasnt been driven yet, but has run on 4 different occasions. I was in the process of burping the coolant when the battery died from a lack of charge.

Im hoping to make my first testdrive this weekend.

Hi
This is a conversion I've been thinking about for a while ... always been something getting in the way to stop me (like my wife: "you want to spend how much to replace an engine that works?") - well done for getting on with it! (now I won't be first >:().

Idea: Lotus use this engine in the Exige ... with a supercharger ...:)

John like your thinking but there is also a company about to put an uber power V8 in the lotus using the same tranny as this and the engine weighs less than air allegedly (you get the idea, ultra compact V8 huge rev limit mega power!) so there is a chance this could then be dropped into a MK1 by someone with very very deep pockets !

Cool ... my pockets ain't deep enough though I think! I take it that's the V8 of about 2.5 litres based on 2 motorbike engines?

that could indeed be the one John !

Sweet as!!! Now that's what we like... soon we'll have a book with how to put any engine in a mk1 mr2... lol
