View Full Version : How About A TOTB team?
TOTB or Ten of the best is one of those jap car club competitions with prizes awarded based on quarter mile, top speed, and a circuit event. Lots of clubs put in entries. I rekon it could be good to get a team together for it next year, i'm pretty sure you'd need at least 300rwhp to compete?

What do we all think?
Maybe not this year (since the deadline is 2nd of july) but what bout next year?

cracking idea,im game if im anywhere near completion....i reckon we could have a good old crack at it,stu and em would be good candidates,as would mr farmers stripped out weapon....oh and dans nitrous'd 3s karmeleon would be a riot! excellent idea goldy.
It'd be a riot, should be able to get the car sorted by then too :shades:
Always thought it'd be funny to see a mk1 embarass people at TOTB rotflmao
ha ha sounds like fun
would be well up for this just for a bit of fun,
mmm need nitrous
Awesome. I think we'd be able to put up a fair fight, tho i'd expect the competition to be pretty tough in the RWD class! Some of the imoc guys have been prepairing all year for TOTB!!!
Some stats from last year...
Fastest ? Mile Drag
Class Driver Car Time Speed
A Paul Johnson Fiesta RS Turbo 11.86s 124mph
B Dee Ireland Calder Toyota Supra Turbo 10.62s 139mph
C Keith Cowie Skyline R32 GTR 9.40s 156mph
Highest Top Speed (1.25 miles)
Class Driver Car Speed
A Paul Johnson Fiesta RS Turbo 167.8mph
B Joel English Dodge Viper 200.2mph
C Clive Seddon RC Developments, Evo 6 199.1mph
I think theres a team award or something as well
the whole lot is @ http://www.totb.co.uk/results/redline-totb-iv.asp
hopefully, next year would be great
I'll definately be up for it for next year. If all goes to plan, should have a SC and other stuff by then and be kicking around 350bhp plus, but my two might be still be a bit lardy - maybe I should get a second one and strip it to nowt, hehe. :)
Hehe sounds like a plan... liking the supercharger idea! I've always wanted a 2nd car to strip down to the bare minimum simply for track use. I'd imagine tho starting with a mk1 the end result would be lighter especially with all those rusty "go faster" holes in the bodywork
Anyone on here rekon they could get a mk1 or mk2 into the 10's on the quarter by next year? :driving:

Yup this is actually what my rev 3 engine is being built up for as I usually go to TOTB and rekon it should be fairly easy to have a crack at some of them ! be warned though all the big boys run uber money set ups ! Me and a friend are sponsering kieth cowie in a very small way this year and believe me the money the top guys spend would pay paul to build every 1.5 ever known to man quite happily ! hey also all use traction and launch control ! the main contenders are the big supras and skylines, that said there was a damned fast rover there as well puttting out stupid HP through the front wheels ! All cars have to be totally road legal as well ! The 4wd boys always do crap IMHO as they just tend to bog down on the starts ! 300rwhp would be a bare minimum to get close and in reality your gonna need to look at 350rwhp with tourque to match, your then also looking at some way of laying that power down in a way that it pushes your forward and doesnt leave a huge cloud of smoke and no go nowhere ! The rev3 engine I am going to build will be as uprated as I can afford but I am still concerned with putting the power down which is the downside of a lightwieght car ! Anyone who is interested really needs to get loads of luanch practise in as this is where the big cars struggle even with traction and launch and I just know they can be beaten ! I think the car o beat them would be a V6 to be honest as the V6 boys have low down torque that can easily be laid down in a smoother manner than the 3SGTE boys/girls but it will then need some forced induction or NOS to then really throw them down the track ! Also no way any of us wil get near the top speed title as limited by our boxes ! also your gonna be harded pushed to beat a sorted EVO on the handling circuit unless your a drift god/godess ! that said its all worth a try and will be a lot of fun !

Sounds like we need to make twobrutal project car between us and all chip in with performance parts etc anyone like the sound of a 2000hp twin supercharged 1uzfe V8 in a mk1 with a sorted gearbox and fully track prepared! Between us all i reckon it would be feckin amazin any idea's lads?
I'd be up for that don't mind puttin a few quid in later on in the year / contributing some time, once i'm working!
v8 would be quality but I doubt we would get it finished in a year, surely v6 twin turbo would be the easier option as its a tried and tested engine in the mk1! :afro:
As said, a lot of this is down to the driving. I don't think u'd want too much BHP, just enough to use it fully.
I used to put down some pretty decent times with 160BHP and FWD. It really is all about practice. What seems like a slow start can often be ur best.
Practice makes perfect ;)

I'm just looking at the figures above and imagining 167mph in a Ford Fiesta!!

I appologise unreservedly.
Henceforth Miss Owen will be chained to the kitchen sink with only enough rope to make it to the master bedroom...
