^^ typo, ready for a mk2 v6, my keyboard sometimes doesnt work

hey ppl! ive been lurking around this board for about a year, making random posts, but now, that ive brought home a 3VZ-FE and im gearing up for the conversion into my MR2, i thought i should properly introduce myself in the proper place.

i live in sydney, australia, near blacktown (home to many wrecking yards, rather fortuitously) and i have a mk2 rev1 NA, aussie spec, with a 3SGE.

ive been researching this swap for about two years, and i FINALLY managed to snag a 139,000 klm 3VZ for a decent price (or what passes for decent down here, $800). but i still need a few things, as all i have atm is the complete motor, minus PS and AC pumps, with a chopped loom >:[, auto flywheel with important spacer plates, and no exhaust below the manifolds.

also need the AFM, ECU, dizzy cap, coil and igniter, vac tank, COR (is this bypassable?), a belt, probly lots of coolant piping, i need an engine mount from fourveesix (i contacted him re this earlier in the year), and i need some bits of the wiring loom like the ECU plug ends.

on the plus side, ive ordered a full gasket kit from ebay, and it has had the timing belt changed, injectors, plugs, and water pump all done recently, so that will save me a bit of cost.

i know there are a few other aussies about, planning this, but to my knowledge no one has pulled it off yet? so the race is on!

thanks for having me aboard guys!

and here is the link to my MR2 weblog

which is slighly out of date atm, but chronicles the (relatively uninteresting) progress of the car to date.

hi mate welcome to TB! you dont need a COR,you will be using the mk2 one thats in the fusebox and theres only one wire to connect for that...see the wiring guide when it gets uploaded today.

Remember you will either need a fidanza fly (for 1mz-fe) or a modified mk2 one.Your chopped loom sounds a bit nasty...where is it chopped?

thanks paul! nice. that was me getting the mk1 stuff mixed up then.

ill take some photos shortly, i think its chopped up near where it goes into the firewall, so if i can get the plugs from the other end, i should hopefully be able to match colors

btw where should i start a thread for the swap? mk2 section?

thanks nik, yeah ill find a new one if i can!

thanks nuttassie!

fourveesix, damn, i missed out. oh well. Got your PM, replied. the spoiler is actually a bomex (or bomex copy) 'whale tail' style spoiler. it clips over the boot with no drilling required - however all the rev1 spoiler holes are still visible, which is why i might end up going with the autopista spoiler.

thanks adamh!

thanks alunj - yeah thats the plan, make a nice, twisty-capable cruiser for the weekend drives
