Hi folks,

Found the site through Woodsy's profile on IMOC. Living in Dublin, Ireland. Have a Mk1b and a Mk2 Turbo as well, but i'm rebuilding that at the moment thanks to cylinder 3 piston cracking in a few places. No pics of the mk1 yet since I only have it a month or something but will try to get some. Have plenty of pics of the mk2 but don't think you'll want to see them here

Always wanted a mk1 ever since I first saw it, and now that I have it means I have the best of both worlds with a car thats nice and economical during the week and a gas guzzler for the weekend. Don't plan to drop a different engine into the mk1, as i've fell in love with the 4AG and if anyting would maybe go for a bit of NA power from it since I like the contrast in driving experiences you get from both cars.

What's that I seen Woodsy reckons none of these poncy mk2 drivers can drive properly? :?... hmm sounds like wager to me! Although I would agree there is a load of mk2s crashed this winter that all mysteriously involve some "oil" on the road......

Anyways, Hi everybody! Hope to get some useful info from here and maybe share the little bit I have :)

Cheers
Pete

WHAT!! nik you grab his ankles....someone get the door...

Pete hopefully we can convert you into thinking otherwise, one day you will see the light and realise you can have the best from mk1 and mk2 in one package,we are pretty hardcore when it comes to modifying mk1's and we end up with machines that are far better than anything toyota managed to turn out.But please share your ideas on the forum, the madder the better!

Good to see you on the forum all the same.

Thanks Paul.

If I didn't go so mad on the mk2 already I probably would have done something with the mk1. But if you seen how clean it is, it would make you think twice about chopping and changing stuff out of it!

I kind of have the mk2 as a weekend/track car with coilovers, and a list of stuff that is longer than my arm which doesn't make it as nice to drive on our roads as the mk1 so i'd like to try and keep it that way if I can.

One possibility though I have looked at for the mk1, is an NA engine that a member of IMOC is selling that produces in the region of 170hp on twin dellortos, professionally built etc! So that would be mega fun and I LOVE the sound of a nicely tuned set of sidedraughts plus the revvy-ness and sound of the 4AG that a person would die for........ I would anyway!

Other than that, I want to have the whole underbody waxoyl'd and inspected for rust properly over a ramp by my friends dad who restores marques like Porsches, Ferraris etc....... prevention is better than cure and all that

Thanks
Pete

hmm how about a 3SGE then? Maybe a red top Beams model, from SSIII Celicas and very late model SW20 NA's? I thought about putting one of these into my old AW ages ago, would give it the fun, thrashability of an NA while still having up to 200hp

welcome to the board. :D
i understand about not wanting to pull apart a perfectly good tubby.
and we all love the 4AGE too, but we also love the mk1 chassis and styling enough to want to turn it into an affordable 'super' car as well as the challenge that goes with swap..its the whole package, the experience and thrill of driving something very very unique that you created yourself..and its kinda nice having an old 80s car that whoops tubbys, STIs, porkers..etc too..
you've got the mk1 NA bug and thats great but i am sure that one day another NA or SC option will whet your whistle and youll be hypnotised into wanting to swap it in..
who knows..in the mean time enjoy the info on the site and steer clear of any 'oil' patches..!
