Red Import Mk2, built 1991 or 1992.
I think it's a gen 2 as it had genuine 15" wheels on it when purchased.
Picked it up in 1999 with around 60000Km on it, Km clocks and sidelights were japanese spec.
Got driven for work purposes for 2 years or so, putting on 30000km. I maintaned it just enough to keep it on the road and get through MOTs, but it had a hat full of things that needed sorting.
It drank oil like cray, in 200 miles it would get through 1-2 litres, though I couldn't pin down a leak.
In about 2003 it went to JEM Ltd in Hendon who have serviced it since. They resolved the oil leak; the oil control rings had been seized into the pistons and hadn't been clearing the residue down as intended, burning off the oil in the process. Engine stripped and rebuilt here (thought I'm not sure how extensively).
Since then it's had virtually everything repaired or replaced each year where I have found problems. Brakes, suspension, radiator, exhaust & cat, sills, leaky relays, gaitors, seat belts, etc,etc usually with Toyota original parts. Clocks were converted to miles in 2003 at about 90000Km.
It is/was also a multitude of shades, once fading to a watercolour pink on the engine cover, but a paint specialist visited it and it's now almost back to the original colour with the exception of the front bumper, replaced by JEM in 2000 following a dumb-ass shunt.
I now consider it an "old lady". It survived while I denied it proper servicing and thrashed it round the country, and has been lovingly maintained in return since. It was treated to Rota Torque 17" wheels a few years back as I was having trouble finding equivalent replacements for the 15" wheels at short notice. I am not happy with the front tyres on it and will be looking for advice on them.
2GR now fitted. As with other 2GR fitted cars, it is exactly what you think a 1200kg car would be like if you put a people carrier engine in it. Silly amounts of torque, silky smooth delivery, baritone bellow when you want it. You are very aware that there is a monster in the engine bay that will kill you if you drive it without respect.
